About the scholarship
The Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has launched an initiative to attract international students to study at Iraqi universities by offering full and partial scholarships in all disciplines, including medicine and engineering, and at all degree levels: Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate.
Applications for scholarships at most Iraqi universities are submitted through a single platform, “Study in Iraq.”
What is the Study in Iraq program?
It is an official program offering scholarships to international students at over 67 public and private universities in Iraq, with diverse opportunities to study at all academic levels:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Higher Diploma
- Master’s Degree
- Doctorate
The scholarship is available in all disciplines, including medical and engineering disciplines. The disciplines vary depending on the university to which you are applying, so please refer to the university’s website to learn about the available disciplines and the requirements for each discipline.

Application requirements
- Applications are open to international students of all nationalities and are submitted through the program’s official website.
- The student must be a foreign national or an Arab citizen of non-Iraqi parents.
- Neither the student nor their parents should be of Iraqi origin and have acquired a non-Iraqi nationality.
- The student should not be of non-Iraqi origin and have acquired Iraqi nationality.
- The student must pledge not to apply for Iraqi nationality during the scholarship period.
- Applicants for bachelor’s degrees must hold a non-Iraqi secondary school certificate.
- The student must not have previously been accepted into any Iraqi public university or private college/university through the approved admission channels, nor should the student be applying through any private or public university admission channels.
- Students are not permitted to work full-time or part-time during the scholarship period.
- Cultivating two degrees simultaneously is not allowed.
- If a student achieves a grade of Very Good or higher, the scholarship may be extended to pursue a master’s or doctoral degree.
Required documents
- To apply, submit your application through the platform. You can choose three universities for full scholarships, one for part-time study, and one for self-funded study. Attach the following documents:
- A passport valid for at least six months.
- A formal passport-sized photograph (50 cm x 50 cm) with a white background, taken to the shoulder.
- A document proving the applicant’s and their parents’ origins (birth certificate, national ID card, or citizenship certificate).
- A written declaration stating that you have not applied to any other study program within Iraq at any public or private university or college. This declaration can be downloaded from the scholarship website here.
- High school diploma and transcript (for diploma or bachelor’s degree applications).
- High school diploma and bachelor’s degree certificate, along with transcripts for each (for higher diploma or master’s degree applications).
- High school diploma, bachelor’s degree, and master’s degree certificate (or equivalent), along with transcripts for each (for doctoral degree applications).
- Master’s thesis in PDF format (for doctoral degree applications).
Important Notes:
- Certificates must be translated into Arabic or English.
- All certificates must be in color.
How to Apply for Scholarships on the Edras Platform in Iraq 2026-2027
- Applications for scholarships are submitted electronically to all universities through the Edras Platform in Iraq application. An account is created on the platform using the student’s email address, and the required documents are uploaded.
- When applying, the student selects five universities on the online form (three for full scholarships and one for a partial scholarship). Students can also choose a university to study at their own expense in Iraq if they wish.
- The order of preferences must be carefully considered, as the selection process for scholarships depends on this, taking into account the competitive selection criteria.
- Some terms and conditions may vary between universities and programs, so it is essential to refer to the website of the specific university and program for which you are applying.
- Universities will review the student’s application and verify that they meet the scholarship admission requirements.
- Submitting any falsified documents may result in cancellation of the application.
Important Notes:
- Each student may create only one account on the platform. Any unauthorized accounts will be deleted.
Application Deadline for Iraqi Scholarships (Bachelor’s and Diploma)
- Applications for the scholarship opened on May 1, 2025. The application deadline for the Edras platform scholarships in Iraq for Bachelor’s and Diploma degrees (undergraduate studies) was mid-August.
- The application deadline for Edras platform scholarships in Iraq for postgraduate studies and higher diplomas was June 1.
