Graduate Membership and two DAAD-GSSP Scholarships<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n


We are looking for highly motivated, excellent doctoral candidates with a strong interest in interdisciplinary research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The HGGS provides a structured, interdisciplinary programme in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Law for the formation of excellent doctoral researchers. It fosters innovative, interdisciplinary research projects at Heidelberg University and offers its members a dynamic and collaborative research environment within a broad national and international network. HGGS members actively contribute to the exchange across the disciplines and benefit from an exclusive selection of interdisciplinary seminars and expert courses in English, German and Spanish. Thematically, the doctoral research projects at the HGGS focus on Field of Focus 3:”Cultural dynamics in globalized worlds” or Field of Focus 4: “Self-regulation and regulation: individuals and societies” at Heidelberg University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applicants must hold an M.A. or equivalent in one of the disciplines of the Humanities and Social Sciences or Law with an above-average grade (at least 1.7, 5.5, B+, 2+, \u201cmagna cum laude\u201d, or similar). The transcript has to indicate at least four years of study at the university level. Excellent knowledge of English or German, in addition to a further language, is expected. Knowledge of German can be acquired or improved during the first year of the programme. Importantly, applicants are expected to contact a potential supervisor at Heidelberg University in order to discuss their research plans and to obtain a supervision agreement. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to present their projects to the Selection Committee at an interview in Heidelberg or via Skype in April 2020. The HGGS Membership is foreseen for three years with the option of an additional year. Membership in the HGGS implies free access to all courses, academic events and international schools at the HGGS and affiliated institutes, but no individual stipend will be awarded. The DAAD-GSSP Scholarships for two international candidates are foreseen for four years with a stipend of 1200,- per month. Both the HGGS Membership and the DAAD-GSSP Scholarships at the HGGS are expected to start on 1 October 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

a) Completed cover page (download HERE<\/a><\/em><\/strong>or Word-format from heiBOX<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

b) Letter of intention, with a brief description of the qualifications, academic objectives and the research project (max. 2 pages)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

c) CV with information about the academic career, achieved grades, research projects and research experience, publications (if any)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

d) Project description of max. 5 pages in German or English (including research plans and objectives, critical approach, data, methods, theoretical focus)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

e) Timescale for the research project<\/p>\n\n\n\n

f) Transcripts (Bachelor and Master)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

g) Letters of recommendation: 1 letter (formless) required for HGGS membership; 2 letters on the DAAD form required for DAAD-GSSP applications <\/p>\n\n\n\n

h) Written supervision agreement by a Professor or PD at Heidelberg University. Information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

i) Excel-Sheet with details about your academic career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
