Altinbac University is a foundation university in Istanbul, Turkey. The university was established in 2008 as Istanbul Kemerburgaz University and changed to its current name in 2017. Altinbas University has more than 3700 international students from 84 countries, more than 25% of the students are international.

Undergraduate Admission (ÖSYM) Scholarships:

Students who are placed in programs, which have been announced as scholarship programs by the ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center) are awarded a range of different scholarships.

  •        Students placed in full-tuition scholarship programs will be exempt from paying all tuition fees
  •        Students placed in three-fourths tuition scholarships programs will be exempt from 75% of tuition fees
  •        Students placed in Half-Tuition Scholarship programs will be exempt from 50% of tuition fees
  •        Students placed in one-quarter tuition scholarship programs will be exempt from 25% of tuition fees.

Admission Scholarships are non-repayable. . In the event that students, who are awarded the above-mentioned scholarships, fail to complete English Preparatory Program in 2 years, their scholarships shall be terminated. Scholarships shall be valid during the maximum period of studies as specified in Higher Education Law No. 2547. Admission Scholarships shall be applied for double major programs and summer school in accordance with the Board of Trustees decisions.

Merit-Based Scholarships:

 According to their placement test scores in University entrance exam, students chosen from among those who were placed to an associate’s degree and undergraduate degree program for the first time and who also rank among the score segment determined by Altınbaş University Senate, are awarded merit-based scholarships for 9 months per year throughout the normative duration of studies, provided that they achieve good academic standing. Merit-based scholarships shall be freeze in the event that student’s GPA falls below 2.50 out of 4.00.

Honours Scholarships:

At the end of the each academic year, after the completion of English preparatory program, top students who have achieved outstanding academic results in their respective Undergraduate School/Vocational School are awarded Honours Scholarships for the following academic year; provided that they fulfilled the normal course load, equivalent to the required ECTS credits, specified for each year by their respective programs, passed all classes they have taken and had a GPA greater than 3.50.

Arts Scholarships:

  • Students who have ranked among the top three in international painting, sculpture, film making/cinema and Western classical music contests, and who have submitted applications to the Altınbaş University Scholarship Commission before the University application period, and whose applications are accepted by the Commission are awarded an art scholarship. Thescholarship amounts are determined by the Board of Trustees.

Sports Scholarships:

  • Full-tuition scholarships covering the normative duration of studies are awarded by Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sports to athletes who are placed in Altınbaş University and who have been successful in the following categories. The candidates must provide documentation for proof of their sporting achievements in the last 4 years.     

Group 1: Athletes who have won medals in the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and Deaflympics; the Youth Olympic Games (YOG); in the adult leagues of the Olympic and Paralympic sports in the World and European Championship Finals, and in the adult leagues of the World and European Cup Finals,

Group 2: Athletes who have won medals in U-21, Youth and Stars leagues of Olympic and Paralympic sports; in U-21, Youth and Stars leagues of the World and European Cup Finals; the European Games; the University Games, the Mediterranean Games, the Islamic Solidarity Games, the winter and summer edition of the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF), in the World Championships held by Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU), as well as athletes who have competed in  the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and Deaflympics, and in  the Youth Olympic Games (YOG),

Group 3: Athletes who have won medals in international competitions and tournaments held in Olympic and Paralympic sports that are on the competition calendar of international federations and participated by a minimum of 9 country teams in team sports, and by a minimum of 16 country athletes in individual sports; as well as athletes who have competed in   the European and World Championships held in Adult, U-21, Youth and Stars leagues of Olympic and Paralympic sports, and in the World and European Cup Finals held in Adult, U-21, Youth and Stars leagues of sports for which no World and European Championships are held.

Martyrs’ Children Scholarships:

Each academic year, a total of six students (three students enrolled in undergraduate programs and three students enrolled in associate’s degree programs) are awarded Martyrs’ Children Scholarship. This scholarship shall cover the tuition fee and continue throughout the normative duration of studies as applied to Undergraduate Admission (ÖSYM) scholarships. 

Students wishing to apply for Martyrs’ Children Scholarship are required to make a pre-application to the Health, Culture and Sports Office before the deadline, along with any documents required.

In the event that applications exceed the quota set for Martyrs’ Children Scholarship, applicants shall be sorted by their central placement scores. Students who cannot be granted scholarships shall register according to the requirements of the program they are placed in.

Board of Trustees Scholarship:

 Students placed in programs requiring tuition payment or in scholarship programs (including preparatory class students) may be awarded an additional/merit-based 25% discount on their tuition fees upon the decision of the Board of Trustees. Students awarded with the said scholarship shall be entitled to maintain it throughout the normative duration of their studies, provided their GPA is 3.00 and above. Otherwise, student’s scholarship status shall be reset to its former status.

Sibling Discount:

 In accordance with the Article 10 of Altınbaş University Scholarship Directive, each of the siblings may apply for a sibling discount if they are concurrently enrolled in Altınbaş University associate’s degree and/or undergraduate degree programs.

Sibling discount only applies to tuition fee and therefore a renewal application shall be made at the beginning of each academic year.

The deadline for renewal of applications is the end of add/drop period. 

Applications must be submitted to the Health, Culture and Sports Office along with the documentation proving sibling relationship (certificate of identity register copy, copy of the birth certificate).
